It has always fascinated me how some people are able to get up at 4 am and kick start their day with some exercise while others push working out to the bottom of the to-do list. It is so easy to not prioritise exercise and yet it is as easy to do it. We have choices and getting back on track and staying on track is easier than losing this lifestyle choice. Read on for some quick and easy tips to help set yourself up for success.
1. Think about what exercise you enjoy
Dong what makes you feel good, feels good!
2. Make the decision
Making exercise a habit (ingrained behaviour) where it is non-negotiable is the easiest way to stay disciplined. Creating healthy habits takes conscious effort, to begin with, and then soon becomes a part of you. This is true for negative habits too - you may need to make the decision to not scroll through social media for an hour in the morning and rather get up and exercise. Whether you’d like to incorporate new healthy behaviours or eliminate existing unhealthy ones, don’t make the mistake of going too big.
3. Set realistic goals that are attainable and achievable
Find something small that interests you and start by working towards that rather than a huge goal that seems too big, to begin with.
4. Find an accountability
A buddy system is always a good start. Share your goals with a friend and support one another through your journey. Choose people who uplift and encourage you and that want the best for you.
5. Put it in your diary
Schedule your exercise and put the rest of your day around this commitment to yourself. See this commitment as a means to be a better person who can give more once you have given yourself this self-love.
Wishing you all the luck on this new journey to finding the best version of you!
