In 2014 I embarked on a massive life and career change. I completed my Mat Certification and then followed that up with the Comprehensive Certification in 2015, obtaining both from BASI.
Prior to teaching Pilates fulltime, I completed my B.Com Marketing degree at the University of Pretoria, worked in the fashion and television industry and then decided I wanted to make a major change in my life.
My journey with Pilates started at 18. I had fallen ill with Meningitis and it was during my recovery process that my Neurologist suggested I take up Pilates to help with pain management.
This decision would have a profound impact on my life, so much so that it would end up being my chosen career path. It’s also through my own journey that I have an understanding of clients who suffer from chronic pain and have a special interest in working with them.
It is important for me to try and meet every client’s specific needs. Bodies are complex and none are the same. It is my goal as an instructor to identify limitations but to also encourage my clients to reach a level they never thought possible. I’m passionate about working with people, whether you are a beginner or a professional athlete. I’m passionate about movement and staying active and feel it is my duty to encourage others to do the same.
I’m a qualified pre and post-natal instructor and have taken many women through their pregnancies.
I’ve been lucky enough to have had Ashley Ritchie as a mentor in my life, I also worked at her studio Body Mechanix for four years. I’ve also had the privilege to work at the BASI host studio in Prato, Italy.
I’m passionate about Pilates and believe that it is a privilege to work with such a diverse array of people.
